will scrap this when I get around to coloring it!

so excited about the English vol.1 Lackadaisy! And really, it needs to be something I'm -really- looking forward to if it gives me the urge to draw anthropomorphic cats! (THIS NEVER HAPPENS)

These two are based off of Noboyuki Fukumoto's Ginji and Morita from '銀と金' (Silver & Gold). I'm still trying to think of appropriate adoptable English names both will use while traveling America, but their 'street' names (if you will) would be 'Silver' and 'Forest'.

Both of them are Oriental Shorthairs (big ears, long faces/tails), their three other cohorts would be an Oriental Longhair and two Japanese Bobtails. <3

I'll go more into detail when I can think up the names! I'd think they'd be fun to do a little fanwork with :>

Lackadaisy and overall inspiration belongs to *tracyjb

FFFFFFF has lackadaisy updated? I gotta go check!

I'd love to own the first volume. This looks great too, although I'm not familiar with the Silver and Gold of which you speak :D

MCs en DJs kunnen hier alleen maar van dromen.
Alleen al om in de buurt van dit hardcoreniveau te komen.

Lackadaisy is a cool comic, so seeing a Gin to Kin/Lackadaisy crossover is interesting.

I researched Oriental Shorthairs, and there are some things that bothered me. Your depiction of "anthropomorphized" Shorthairs is a bit off. The ears are big indeed, but they make a rounder corner and not at all furry, like in your picture. The ears (specially his left ear) in Silver's full body picture seem to be growing off his forehead, they're better positioned in his profile sketch.

Both Silver and Forest seem to have a problem with their nuzzles. Oriental Shorthairs have relatively elongated snouts. Your picture's cats have elongated snouts... On the profile pictures. The full body ones, however, give the impression of having "normal" sized muzzles, like most cats do. The slope you gave to both their snouts takes away the impression of having the almost straight nose bridge Oriental Shorthairs have. Something else that bothers me about the face structure you gave them is the pronounced, square looking jaw in both characters. Shorthairs have a small, round jaw.

Overall their heads don't convince me. They should have a more triangle shaped head, in accordance to their real life counterparts.

I noticed you gave Forest's profile a "side mouth". Big no-no, leave those to low quality animation companies and Popeye drawings. It's probably the worst thing you can do to your works, unlesss it's part of the style ("on purpose", as in very cartoonish characters a la Mickey Mouse, etc).

Their tails' length is okay, but their thickness is not. Oriental Shorthairs have thin tails.

Silver's hand is probably what bothers me the most. It seems stiff and very un-cat looking. Cats only separate their digits when surpised, making violent movements (as in turning to their feet when falling), et cetera, as opposed to being relaxed. I'm sure the nicotine Silver's taking from that cigar is relaxing him. Studying Lackadaisy's design would help you with this.

I dig their suits, specially Silver's. I see Ginji's anthropomorphic Lackadaisy version has kept his sense of fashion. I can sort of see Forest wearing a fedora.

Will you try coloring this, or do we have to wait for another picture to get a look at their color scheme?

This is probably the first time I have drawn 'animals' in uh, two years or so, so I'm no expert. I should have said 'based' more than 'are', because yes, I was looking at several oriental shorthair images as I was drawing them, but their side profiles/quarter profiles turned out looking like dogs/foxes. The only way I saw at the time to keep them looking like cats and stay loosely close to Tracy's style was to keep their faces/muzzles a bit round. Tracy's muzzles are even stubbier, so there is still that slight difference.

I've decided to make Silver a 'nekomata' and fork his tail. This gave me more story on him, and it makes sense since he is a very old asian cat. I'll show the fork in the color, but if he's ever drawn out in public/in the presence of anyone other than his cohorts, he will appear just to have a normal tail. Not even a thin tail, most nekomata are portrayed with long forked tails that don't thin out on the ends, so that saves me some editing. For Forest, yeah, the tail isn't thin enough, I will edit it.

For the ears, I intentionally added more hair to Silver's and will probably go back and round them as I color. Again, I never draw furries, ever, haha

I am coloring/editing this as I hold the attention to it, most everything pointed out wasn't done intentionally and is me being the 'I cant draw animals right' retard that I am!

Don't call yourself a retard, all you need to do is practice. You already are a skilled artist.
